Voight-Kampff - The Din of Dying Youth LP.  Alot of bands are playing a style of punk that could be referred to as “dark” or “brooding”, which means one needs to be either really good or really bad at it to make some kind of mark. Average just causes a band to get lost in the shuffle. Voight-Kampff play punk in that style and they do it really, really well. The beat is super solid and works towards the momentum of each song. The guitars are meandering and kind of distant.... lurking at times until you realize that they are playing a hook that gets buried in your brain. The vocals are definitely dark and brooding, but they’re also defiant, strong and effective. I can’t resist a comparison to the late great Observers, but Voight-Kampff are something else entirely. At six songs this LP is absolutely all killer, no filler. The packaging on this one is also pretty sweet. It has a nice looking die-cut cover of the bands logo on the front made more noticable by the band members faces on the insert peaking through the die-cut area. Clever idea. Import from Germany.

The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs- One More Drink LP ~RAINBOW SPLATTER SPECIAL EDITION LIMITED TO 100!

Los Angeles' the Streetwalkin' Cheetahs spew a raw, undistilled slab of sweet ‘n nasty sonic tonic on their 7th studio album 'One More Drink'. The Cheetahs reignite the raw Detroit sounds of the the Stooges and fellow down under countrymen Radio Birdman blasting through 11 red-hot tracks of over-amplified nihilism showing even further dexterity in the world of thick riffs and song writing versatility. ‘One More Drink’ sounds like the good kind of mid 70’s pre-punk Riff 'n Roll record hopped-up on a heavy dose of classic 80's, white lightnin’ radio Rock. They mix an absolutely perfect Rock 'n Roll cocktail here...
