Suicide Notes- Is That You LP. They say the whole is worth the sum of its parts and that doesn’t necessarily translate in band land. But that definately rings true with Portalnd powerhouse the Suicide Notes. They check in with a killer line up including Tim Connolly (Epoxies, Sex Crime), John Cox (Satan’s Pilgrims, Pynnacles), Petey J. Cool (Pure Country Gold) and are rouded out by two boisterous singers and sisters-in-crime Jessi ‘Lixx’ Garver and Anna ‘Double A’ Andersen. ‘ Is That You’ is a stellar 12 song LP. Their sound is a snarky mix of the Shangri-Las and Nikki And The Corvettets girl pop fun belted out with a defiant Punk edge. Some of the songs strut with a straight up 1234 Ramones -ey bounce pop swagger while others blend a gorgeous combination of Girschool rockin’ tuffness with the Go-Go's sonic vocal prowess. Almost every song is held together with the bands duo-vocalists reverberating a wall of sound of harmonies acentuated by stellar guitar punctuating hooks that make the songs really stick. They’ve released two sold singles to date and they’ve definately upped the ante on their debut LP here. Recommended.
