So Cow- S/T LP. Hell ya the debut So Cow LP. This one picks up exactly where you want it to. The last LP was a stone cold classic and the new record dishes 18 cuts of all the various shapes, sizes and colors that made his previous work so interesting. He ups the ante a bit on this one by mixing in more sophisticated takes on his scuzzed-up, rambling, pop aesthetic and comes up with another great batch of songs. So Cow plays smart power-pop with a dexterity to go epic at times. He stretches over Home Blitz territory and a bit into Gizmos-land, but with the lyrical content going from sweetly innocent to starkly profound to goofball quirky humor all in a few tracks. Hitting on the charm and character that make the Television Personalities tick, these new set of songs constantly find themselves running wild with ideas in a natural A.D.D. whirlwind, but with a sharp and focused skill. So Cow glues spasms of noise and off-kilter parts to a pop skeleton creating a pretty exceptionally pop based album that’s been stuck in my brain for the last few days. Fun record.
