The band name came from a miss-heard Roky Erickson lyric and draws inspiration from not only Roky but bands such as Dead Moon, Radio Birdman and Hawkwind. Levitating Churches fuse outsider psych grit with garage punk grime to produce a sleazy set of fuzz-doused jams where the guitar tones rip through a smoke filled amplifier.
