Giving Up- Peace Sign/Frown Face LP. First of all this record has some pretty sweet package. The LP comes with a very neat looking hand-stitched riso-printed photo booklet, download card, lyric sheet and they’re pressed on a cool looking shade of blue vinyl. I’ve never seen an LP that’s had a booklet that’s hand stitched before!! Very cool! What’s on the record is a kinda bright sounding, sentimental post-punk that’s alot messier and has more of a jubilant lo-fi DIY feel to it. This is reminding me alot of Tar Feathers and Meneguar with bouncy stumbling grooves with yelping grungey accessibility. It’s earnest and ramshackle and a little bit twee, at times, but the tunes are consistently catchy and affecting and there’s enough garagey rough edges to keep it from turning you off. Absolutely one of the most charming and enjoyable things I’ve heard in a while.
