Freddie Dilevi- Teardrops 7”. Everyone knows the incredibly talented Freddie Dilevi, an artistic nickname for Pablo Velazquez most well known as the singer of Freddie and The Filos from Spain. This is Freddie Dilevi’s debut single released under this new moniker and it’s a pretty nice treat. ‘Teardrops’ includes 6 gorgeous primitive rock and roll gems that are a perfect throw back to the 50’s. This single distills the mood and feel of fifties culture through songs about simpler times. He takes a vocal trip down memory lane with songs about love and devotion, beautiful cars, hangin’ with your girl and 24 hour diners. These six songs take you back to the early days of rock ‘n roll when the songs had a light rockabilly feel and remind me alot of early rock ‘n roll crooners like Eddie Cochran, Elvis and Gene Vincent. All the songs are sung by Freddie himself and a few of the songs have a backing vocal cast of what sounds like 3-4 ladies doing backup vocals creating some gorgeous vocal harmonies that work well with Freddie’s rough and raspy voice. If you dig any of the aforementioned bands, check this out. It’s really good. Spanish import.
