Fat History Month- Bad History Month LP.  Here’s the latest LP from indie rockers Fat History Month, who peddle a style of slightly folk-influenced indie rock which will remind me alot of Three Mile Pilot and Archers of Loaf. In other words it sounds like it’s from the ‘90s but in a really good way. This album seems to be at least loosely conceptual, following a cowboy in his struggles with the modern world and its contradictions and disappointments, mixing humour with poignancy in tracks like ‘Couch Killed The Cowboy’. I have to admit I’m having a hard time finding ways to describe this that doesn’t make it sound kinda dated, but if the aforementioned Archers and Pilot are your kind of thing, as they are mine, then you’ll be beyond stoked that this came out. Gotta hand it to Sophomore Lounge for tracking down a current band playing this style of indie rock with with just the right amount of stumbling weirdness to really make it work. Heartily recommended.

The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs- One More Drink LP ~RAINBOW SPLATTER SPECIAL EDITION LIMITED TO 100!

Los Angeles' the Streetwalkin' Cheetahs spew a raw, undistilled slab of sweet ‘n nasty sonic tonic on their 7th studio album 'One More Drink'. The Cheetahs reignite the raw Detroit sounds of the the Stooges and fellow down under countrymen Radio Birdman blasting through 11 red-hot tracks of over-amplified nihilism showing even further dexterity in the world of thick riffs and song writing versatility. ‘One More Drink’ sounds like the good kind of mid 70’s pre-punk Riff 'n Roll record hopped-up on a heavy dose of classic 80's, white lightnin’ radio Rock. They mix an absolutely perfect Rock 'n Roll cocktail here...
