External Menace- Coalition Blues LP. This record complies all tracks released during the 80's by one of the best bands to ever come from Scotland...External Menace. EXTERNAL MENACE formed from the same youthful energy that gave birth to many of the "second wave" of British punk bands. Put together by vocalist Wullie Hammill and John Sneddon in the summer of 1979, the band were typical of the 1979/1980 punk bands, playing faster and rougher than the class of 77, but not an all out UK82-style attack until later in their career. Sneddy’s guitar work is totally compelling with searing leads interspersed with fiery chuggin’ power chords. External Menace play great, catchy, driving U.K. punk crafted just the way I like it. This Scottish band is perfect for those looking to delve deeper into the first wave of UK Punk beyond bands like The Partisans, Menace etc. This LP is a fantastic legacy to the group and includes some cool liner notes and some rare early photos of the band.
