Escobar- The Biggest Sound LP. France’s highly-acclaimed two-headed pirate beast rises from cold waters to bloody your ears with its third album of power-grunge rock n roll. Escobar was formed in 2014 in Limoges, France by Remi Lucas (of Weird Omen and The Anomalys) and Charly Kayo (of The Bushmen and Daria). On their new album, ‘The Biggest Sound’, boasts a crackling 12 track sludgefeast of sounds not heard since 1991 in Butch Vig’s Madison, Wisconsin studio who engineered some the 90’s biggest and best with the Laughing Hyena’s, Sonic Youth and Nirvana. Escobar harkens back to that era of massive pedal stomping madness with fat walls of distortion and feedback with BIG buildups reminiscent of those classic slabs from Sub Pop and Amphetamine Reptile Records. It really does feel like 1991 all over again and it’s probably because Escobar aren’t hitting 50 years old like Dave Grohl and many of the band members from that era. Fans of any of the aforementioned bands along with Mudhoney, Tad, Green River and Soundgarden will dig.
