Drawer Devils- Hail Satin LP. Drawer Devils are a ballsy, tuff rock ‘n roll band that has deep roots in the Dallas music scene. With band members have done time in illustrious Texas bands like the Gospel Swingers, A Feast of Snakes, the Apehangars, Deadites, Stingrays, and Bipolar Express, their lineage precedes them and they definately bring the goods here. The Drawer Devils get their name from a line in a John Lee Hooker song and on their debut full-length they sound like a mutant hybrid of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Cheater Slicks, Pussy Galore and the Oblivians. On this heavy ten songer they drag burly rock ‘n roll riffs through an oozing morass of reverb and tremelo and the singer’s road weary, vocal drawl works well with the swingin’ greasy riffs these dudes are throwin’ down. They tear through a few choice covers by Chrome Cranks, Dead Moon and the Beguiled, so that should give you an idea of where their burly fuzz fucked heads lie. If you’re a fan of older In The Red noise makers like the Necessary Evils, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion or the Cheater Slicks, you’ll definitely dig these guys.
