Yokohama Hooks- Turn On 7”. Debut 7-inch from Spokane’s Yokohama Hooks. This band was a real surprise to me, they play a super cool sounding Au Pairs-esque minimal post-punk sounding groove. These 3 songs stand firm in the grooves with sharp guitar lines and driving bass/drum rhythms and all harnessed by some superb song writing. And the vocals definitely stand out from a girl with a unique accent that matches up to the driving rhythms perfectly. In the lame league as bands like Wire and Gang of Four; keep an eye out for these guys.
