The Resonars- Gold To Blue 7" ~EX LENGUAS LARGAS / MARSHMALLOW OVERCOAT!
The Resonars- Gold To Blue 7". Tucson’s The Resonars have been making some of America's finest '60s-inspired psych-spiked pop since the turn of the millennium. Led by multi-instrumentalist Matt Rendon (of the Knockout Pills, Lenguas Largas and the Marshmallow Overcoat) the Resonars draw inspiration from The Who, The Hollies, and the cream of the British Invasion, channeling mod, power-pop and psychedelic rock ‘n roll sounds into something special. Immersed in the pop-psych glory of 'Younger Than Yesterday'-era Byrds, the impressionable 'Gold To Blue' proves the time between 1967 and now is but the blink of a blissed-out eye. An absolute smasher following by the soaring power popper 'Little Grey Men' which chronicles an era in which we are constantly being observed. And they close out this single with a groovy cover of Richard Farina's timeless folk-rock classic, 'Bold Marauder' an epic enigma of arcane imagery since it was first released in 1965. While this gem has been covered by musicians as diverse as John Kay and Kendra Smith, the Resonars version brings an unparalleled potency to the song, amplifying the feverish fervor of the lyrics with a psychedelic, guitar-driven assault that conjures up Blue Cheer launching an all-out acid-folk crusade. Recommended.
