Scruffs- Swingin’ Singles CD ~REISSUE W/ JAPANESE OBI STRIP!
Scruffs- Swingin’ Singles CD. The Scruffs are an American power pop group formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1974 by writer/guitarist/vocalist Stephen Burns who has remained the bands constant member over the years. Long admired by power pop enthusiasts, the reason the Scruffs were obscure for so long is simple: No one could find their records and there were barely any to buy at that. There was "Wanna Meet the Scruffs?", their amazing 1977 debut for Power Play Records that took the Liverpudlian erudition of fellow Memphis natives Big Star and redefined it into a more upbeat, less volatile mix with lyrics about girls, life as a starving musician and the conflicting hope and doubt of youth. Sporting 13 great songs, it was enough to earn them the accolades of Robert Christgau of The Village Voice and Greg Shaw at Bomp! Magazine, but it was hard to find even then and by the early ’90s, it was damn-near impossible. On their fourth album "Swingin’ Singles", the Scruffs sees Stephen Burns continuing with his Beatles-inspired pop finesse, but updating the sound with multi instrumental orchestrations and bolstered by gorgeous multi-layered harmonies. This 15 track masterpiece includes lead guitar by Stevie Jackson (Belle and Sebastian) and Drums, Backing Vocals, Keyboards and Percussion by Francis Macdonald of Teenage Fanclub. This is a reissue of this classic album originally released on Smash Records. Import from Japan with Japanese Obi strip.

Los Angeles' the Streetwalkin' Cheetahs spew a raw, undistilled slab of sweet ‘n nasty sonic tonic on their 7th studio album 'One More Drink'. The Cheetahs reignite the raw Detroit sounds of the the Stooges and fellow down under countrymen Radio Birdman blasting through 11 red-hot tracks of over-amplified nihilism showing even further dexterity in the world of thick riffs and song writing versatility. ‘One More Drink’ sounds like the good kind of mid 70’s pre-punk Riff 'n Roll record hopped-up on a heavy dose of classic 80's, white lightnin’ radio Rock. They mix an absolutely perfect Rock 'n Roll cocktail here...
