Pezband- Women & Politics LP ~THE KIND!
Pezband- Women & Politics LP. Pezband are another great power pop band of the late ’70s/early ’80s that never really got their due. Hailing from Chicago, Pezband were a part of the same scene that gave rise to excellent guitar bands like Off Broadway, The Elvis Brothers and The Kind. 1980 was a rough year for the group. After three albums and two live EPs, interest from their label began to wane and the group disbanded. Following a year of rest, guitarist Mimi Betinis and drummer Mick Rain were re-energized and ready to to give Pezband another shot. Joined by original band member John Pazdan, the trio headed to Los Angeles to record at the legendary Power Plant Recording Studios, where high school friend Paul Broucek worked. With Broucek at the helm, Pezband completed Women & Politics, an LP that saw the band sharpening a harder edge without abandoning their power pop roots. Women & Politics was shopped around, but in a post-Knack industry, none of the majors were interested. Women & Politics was shelved, remaining unreleased for over 30 years...until now. This is the first official release of Pezband's Women & Politics, freshly remastered by producer Paul Broucek, now President of Music at Warner Bros. Pictures. A couple songs have sharp, clean guitars and fit in more with The Knack or The Vapors, while the others do the bombastic Beatles thing that Cheap Trick perfected. The LP includes some rare band photos and detailed liner notes by the band members and producer Paul Broucek expounding on what went into the making of this LP. Recommended.

Los Angeles' the Streetwalkin' Cheetahs spew a raw, undistilled slab of sweet ‘n nasty sonic tonic on their 7th studio album 'One More Drink'. The Cheetahs reignite the raw Detroit sounds of the the Stooges and fellow down under countrymen Radio Birdman blasting through 11 red-hot tracks of over-amplified nihilism showing even further dexterity in the world of thick riffs and song writing versatility. ‘One More Drink’ sounds like the good kind of mid 70’s pre-punk Riff 'n Roll record hopped-up on a heavy dose of classic 80's, white lightnin’ radio Rock. They mix an absolutely perfect Rock 'n Roll cocktail here...
