Ed Davis Band- Keith Richards’ Dead LP ~REISSUE!
Ed Davis Band- Keith Richards’ Dead LP. Ed Davis Band formed after guitarists Mike Enright and Byron Stevens met drummer Curt Gary at the University of Cincinnati in the early 70s. By 1975 they were jamming together, abusing controlled substances, and listening closely to Lee Perry, Pere Ubu, and the singles coming out of New York and London. A visit to a Bloomington, Indiana, basement to see MX-80 Sound was pivotal, as were debut LPs from The Ramones and The Patti Smith Group. In the winter of 1976, their local guerilla arts collective put on a show at the university and needed a band. With the addition of Mike’s high-school friend Bob Cotter on bass and a few weeks of rehearsals the founding members formed Ed Davis, a name chosen because it meant nothing and revealed nothing. After that show the band slowly built a following in Cincinnati clubs and through a bunch of legendary parties in their downtown loft. In 1978 the band cut a single with ‘Keith Richards’ Dead’ B/W ‘Asshole’ released on Enright Records later that year. After the single was released, the band opened for The Patti Smith Group at Bogart’s, and the lineup changed slightly as guitarist Byron moved to NYC. Ed Davis Band soldiered on for another year and their last show was at the 5th Street loft with Cincinnati legends The Customs in June of 1979. This LP includes the two songs from that incredibly hard to find single along with 9 other completely unreleased gems recently unearthed by the band. Import from Italy.
