TV Freaks- Two LP.  With a couple of singles and an album to hide behind, Canada's TV Freaks spew an angry record full of snottiness and aggression on their second full length. Ex members of Rocket Reducers and Burning Love combine forces here to lay down an incredible album that works from an early punk / HC sound, but they go farther than that. ‘Two’ is a solid album that never feels overly same-y or generic, an all-too-common pitfall of bands playing this sorta thing. There’s definitely a prominent Stooges influence taking hold of tracks like "Nothing" and "Pusher," the latter taking on the sludgey slink of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" before ratcheting up the tempo. There’s also touchstones of bands like Black Flag, Die Kreuzen, Wire and the juiced-up garage pound of Rocket From the Crypt at their raggedest. They play it with spite filled energy and mix up the tempos across the album all while sounding like the same band playing on the same record. Vocalist David O’Connor often reminds me of the great Tony Erba on here, particularly on the more manic numbers. And they don’t outdo themselves by complicating their music or moving away from the basic punk aesthetic which keeps the songs aggro and interesting. Import from Canada.
