As the singles can attest, with the Estrogen Highs, the tunes are never to calculated. The playing is always loose, the ideas are always solid, and the end result is a pretty warbled, sloppy mess that comes together into something raw and unique. And I don't think that happens by accident. Their musical blue print definitely centers around the less is more aestetic, and they drill the point home with with overly catchy riffs bashed intoxicatingly into poppy garage precision. After listening to 'Tell It To Them' you definitely get the sense that each of the four members of the band have a pretty similar idea of what rock n roll is. There are probably more than a few overlapping Yardbirds, Gories, Cheater Slicks, Seeds, Real Kids, Kinks and Stones records in their collections giving them enough of an idyllic musical arsenal to really dish the goods. And dish the goods they do. On 'Tell It To Them', the Estrogen Highs take that less is more aesthetic and keep it honest, real and catchy by letting the music hammer out their blurry, scuzzy message. During a time when their definitely seems to be a lull in underground garage bands, it's nice to know that there are still a few killer bands that more than adequately fill the gap.

The Fitt- Hawk Eyes 7”. The Fitt out of Pittsburgh, PA have released their second EP and it is as powerful as a train derailment with 6 songs brutally smashed into this 7”. Ok Static Static fans, this ones for you. Those not it the know, Static Static are one of the better current new wavey garage bands made up of ex members of the Drags and the Red Aunts. I don’t know the whole story with this single, but I do know that this record is way rare. From my understanding, something happened in the mastering stage of this single. And apparently the test pressings were approved with the label owner not noticing the difference. So the single was released according to the sounds on the original test pressings. Well apparently the minor difference didn't agree with the band and they told the label to destroy all the remaining copies that they had. So these are pretty rare and hard to find and the majority of the press went into a landfill. The original pressing was for 400 COPIES ON BLACK VINYL before the label destroyed their remaining copies. And before they were destroyed the label sent out a few of them with a bonus CD containing the proper mix of both of the songs and these copies have that additional bonus CD.

TAXI- Yu Tolk Tu Mach CD. Long awaited second album from Rome's premier Killed By Death purveyors TAXI! These guys rock a pounding mix of traditional rock 'n' roll, punk and glam rock that's all about balls out energy with running guitar leads and driving floor-tom breaks. When I say "punk," I mean the better, pre-hardcore variety found in the first New York Dolls album with Johnny Thunders-like leads and growling vocals that recall a young Mike Ness in his prime. Their modern take on 70's punk meets glammy rock 'n roll is pretty unmatched on these four tracks.

King Automatic and The Feeling of Love- The Great Reunion 7". Not a split release, but an exciting collaboration between French music acts King Automatic and the Feeling of Love. "Here I Come" opens things up with a raw, Olbivians-style sound of off-kilter guitars and booming drums, enhanced by some swirling reverbed-out vocals.
