Mirrors- Something That Would Never Do LP.  Not many people saw the Velvet Underground, but everyone who did, started a band. Count the Mirrors among that select few who did. Formed in 1972 in Cleveland, the Mirrors were one of the Ohio bands that - like Electric Eels, Styrenes, and Rocket From the Tombs- created the embryonic goop that evolved into some of the best Punk and New Wave bands ever. Namely bands like Dead Boys, Pere Ubu and the Pagans just to name a few. Cleveland in the early 1970s was a land of struggling industry, widespread unemployment, racial unrest, failing sports teams and cheap beer. Back then there was something special going on in the dive bars and abandoned lofts littered across the city’s west side, as a small group of free-thinking punks began to emerge from the silted shadows to forge a new style of rock & roll that would reflect not only Cleveland’s post-industrial grittiness, but also its isolated strangeness. That band is the Mirrors and they would believe in the grooves of the Velvet Underground, the words of Bob Dylan, ESP records and little else. Of all the first-wave post-Velvets groups to surface amongst the era, Cleveland’s the Mirrors were the one of the best, but surprisingly gained the least amount of attention compared to other Cle lakeside contemporaries like Rocket From the Tombs and the Electric Eels. Not as bent as the Electric Eels (“I’m So Agitated!”), nor as throttling as Rocket from the Tombs, the band filled a void among the Cleveland pre-punk scene and this LP truly exemplifies that. This long overdue reissue contains the Mirrors classic sound all in one handy full length. 15 trax including both sides of the “Hearthan” 7", all but one of the songs from the "Those Were Different Times" 10" on Scat along with the pick of the litter from the "Hands In My Pockets" CD on Overground. Some might say a "best of" and after listening to this from start to finish, I think you’ll agree. All trax recorded between 1974 - '75 and officially licensed from the band. Absolutely classic stuff here featuring members of the Electric Eels, Rocket From The Tombs, Styrenes, Pere Ubu, Easter Monkeys and more.
