Automatics- S/T LP. The long awaited 20th Anniversary edition of the epic first full length from Portland, OR's snotty poppy punkers The Automatics! This was originally released in 1996 on CD only by Mutant Pop Records and is finally getting the vinyl treatment 20 years later! This S/T is where it all began for the Automatics and really for Mutant Pop as well. And there are a couple reasons that this record really works and made people take note back in the day. First these guys actually went back to the source for their inspiration. They weren't simply aping Screeching Weasel or Green Day like so many bands back than. They drew their sound largely from the first two Ramones albums and did it pretty well. Secondly the two Jesses (Kimball and Sutherland) were exceptionally talented songwriters who understood the simplicity of early rock n' roll and sped it up to create super catchy pop injected punk tunes. Right up there with Green Day's - Kerplunk, The Queers- Love Songs for the Retarded, and Screeching Weasel's- My Brain Hurts, this LP really shines with it’s poppy three-chord buzzsaw attack on your ears. With crisp vocals and deep harmonies The Automatics deliver the goods over a steady stream of abrasive shredding guitar grit. 17 tracks in all including all the hits like "All The Kids Just Wanna Dance", "My Life is Shit", "Do The Fish", “She Likes Girls” and more. Remastered by Mass Giorgini at Sonic Iguana Studios and includes a two sided insert with band photos, flyers and lyrics. These are pressed on super cool looking BLACK AND PINK BUBBLEGUM SPLATTER WAX and each LP includes one flyer from the bands archives that are tucked inside each of these LP’s. Very cool reissue over all. Recommended.
