George Darro And The Vikings- Viking Twist 7”. Quality reissue of the incredibly hard to find early single from George Darro And The Vikings originally released in 1962 on Nationwide Records. George Darro’s band mates didn’t get along and you can hear it: lead guitar attack, paired by aggro honking sax and agitated howling vocals. Hailing from Pennsylvania, George Darro and the Vikings were not on altogether amicable terms when these two songs were recorded. However, they were able to channel their negative energy into two red hot 7tracks as evident on this record. “Viking Twist” is a wild, frantic rocker with honking sax, twangy guitar and incessant drumming. The flip, is a ‘50s rocker which features the unmistakble vocal crooning of George Darro himself. The reissue also includes a nice sheet of perforated Jukebox Labels.
