Dates- Ask Again Later LP.  Although the Dates main man Garett Goddard may be better known for his punkier/garage-ier endeavors like Personal and the Pizzas, King Tuff and Time Flys with his newest band the Dates; he’s worshiping at the power pop/garage altar of bands like Big Star, the Flamin Groovies, the Plimsouls, Shoes and the Records. And his aim is simple: he’s here to win you over with unapologetically catchy, heart-splattered-on-sleeve power poppin’ rock ‘n roll. Goddard’s voice is as warm, sandy and laid back as a day at the beach and he harmonizes to perfection. The “ooh-la-la” and “ooh, tell me” choruses practically demand listener attention, especially on standouts like “Star,” “Any Other Nite” and “Nervous.” A record date with the Dates means classic 70s-style sweetness with a lo-fi sensibility and big woozy guitars to keep ya coming back for more.
