The Guillotines- Heads Will Roll LP. The Guillotines feature Pagans foundational member Bill DeGidio (aka Robert Conn) on guitar and lead vocals. DeGidio did multiple stints with the Pagans back in the early days, and he's also known for being a member of later Cleveland punk bands like the Defnics, the Plague and AK-47's. He eventually relocated to Houston a couple years back where he formed The Guillotines with his wife Jewels from Chelsea Hotel along with a few other guys who’ve played in Chrome Kickers, The Velostacks and Vanity Crimes. ‘Heads Will Roll’ is the Guillotines debut album and is very much in the same spirit as the Pagans playing crude ‘n filthy Rock ‘n Roll. Much like the Pagans, the guitars reign supreme on this LP, which is the way I want any post Pagans related band to sound. ‘Heads Will Roll’ is packed with a healthy heap of good riffin’, gritty guitars and a rumblin’ loose rhythmn section spewing a nihilistic concoction of full-throttle Rock ‘n Roll. Reminded me a little of the Candy Snatchers and Humpers at times and they close the album with an updated, re-energized version of the Pagans classic ‘What’s This Shit Called Love’. Tough ass no bullshit Rock ‘n Roll is the name of the game here and they do it better than most. Recommended.
